Import your files from Google Drive

The Google Drive importer makes a one-time copy of the files you select into a Brault library or folder. It is not a live sync: after the import, Google Drive and Brault are two separate places, and changing a file in one does not change it in the other.

What Brault reads, and what it never touches

Brault reads only the files and folders you pick, through Google's own authorization screen. You grant that access once, when you connect your Google account, and Google shows you exactly what you are granting before you agree.

Brault never modifies, moves or deletes anything in your Google Drive. The import is read-only on Google's side: Brault lists your files so you can browse them, shows thumbnails, and downloads copies of the ones you selected. Files you did not select are never downloaded and never stored.

Import files from Google Drive

1. Open the New menu in the top bar and choose Import from Google Drive.
2. Click Connect Google Drive. Google's authorization screen opens in a new window. Approve it to continue.
3. Browse your Drive from the list on the left: My Drive, Shared drives, Shared with me, Starred and Recent. Open folders to drill in, or use the search box.
4. Select the files and folders you want. Selecting a folder brings everything inside it, including its subfolders.
5. Under IMPORT INTO, pick the Brault library or folder the files should land in.
6. Click Import selection. The window shows the progress and tells you when the import is done.

Import from Google Drive is being rolled out gradually. If Import from Google Drive is not in your New menu yet, your account is not in the rollout yet.

What arrives in Brault

Folders keep their structure. Brault recreates the folder tree under the destination you picked and puts each file where it was in Drive.

Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are not stored as Google files outside Google, so Brault converts them on the way in. The default is Office (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx); you can switch it to PDF under ADVANCED before you start the import. Everything else, including photos and video, is copied as the original file.

One import copies up to 5,000 files. If your selection is bigger, Brault imports the first 5,000 and tells you on the summary screen, so you can import the rest in a second pass.

Disconnect Google Drive or revoke access

You can revoke Brault's access at any time. Inside Brault, open the import window, click the connected Google account at the top and choose Disconnect. That revokes the token with Google and deletes the stored credential.

You can also revoke it from your Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions, without opening Brault.

Revoking access stops any future import. It does not delete the files you already imported: those are Brault files now, and you delete them like any other file.
