Board views: gallery, kanban, and table

Last updated: August 5, 2026

Every Brault board renders in three views over the same files: gallery, kanban, and table. Switching views changes how the board looks and what you can do with it. It never changes the files, the properties, or who can see them.

A mosaic of large thumbnails at their natural aspect ratio, the same layout as the presentation view in your files.

  • Click a tile to select it, Cmd/Ctrl to add to the selection, Shift to extend, and drag across empty space to sweep a block.
  • Double-click a tile to open the file drawer.
  • Hover a video to scrub through it without opening it.
  • Drag a tile to reorder. If the tile you grab is part of your selection, the whole selection moves with it.
  • The hover overlay carries a Download button and a button with the full file menu.

Use gallery when you are looking at the work: picking selects, comparing versions, reviewing a shoot.

Kanban

Columns built from one board property. Each card is a file, and dragging a card into another column changes that property's value for everyone on the board, live.

  • Group by in the toolbar picks which property becomes the columns. It appears in kanban only, because grouping into columns is a kanban concept.
  • A board with no properties yet shows an empty state instead of columns. If you have manage access, Create a Status property sets one up and groups by it in one click.

Use kanban when work is in flight and you need to see what is with the client and what is with you.

Table

A grid with a sticky File column (thumbnail and name) and one column per board property, in the board's property order.

  • Click a cell to make it active, then edit it in place. Arrow keys move, Enter opens the editor, Esc closes it, Tab moves right.
  • Select a range with Shift and click, or by dragging across cells.
  • Cmd+C and Cmd+V copy and paste, including to and from Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Drag the handle at the corner of a range to fill downward.
  • Reorder rows by dragging from the left gutter.
  • With manage access, click a column header to rename the property, edit its options, or delete it, and use the trailing + to add a new one.

Use table when you are filling in facts: owners, dates, delivery status, usage rights.

What is the same in every view

  • Filters and search. All three views send the same query, so a filter you set holds when you switch.
  • The files. There is one set of board files. The view is only how they are drawn.
  • Real-time sync. Changes from teammates appear in whichever view you are in.

What differs between views

Gallery Kanban Table
Group by No Yes No
Change a property by dragging No Yes (columns) No
Edit any property in place No No Yes
Reorder files Yes (tiles) Yes (within a column) Yes (rows)
Copy and paste values No No Yes

What each access level can do

Your board access Gallery Kanban Table
View Browse, open the drawer Browse, open the drawer Browse, open the drawer, copy with Cmd+C
Edit + drag tiles to reorder + drag cards between columns + edit cells, paste, drag-fill, reorder rows
Manage Same as edit Same as edit + add, rename, and delete properties from the header

Limits worth knowing

  • The three views are available on boards inside your workspace. A published board shared by public link stays kanban for visitors, with no view picker.
  • Your view choice is stored in your own browser, per board. It does not change what teammates see.
  • Table drag-fill goes downward only.
  • Pasting a status, tag, or person value that does not match an existing option or board member skips that cell. Brault never creates an option from a paste.
