Install and update Brault Desktop for Mac

Last updated: July 15, 2026

Brault Desktop for Mac is a free direct download at brault.app/desktop/mac: open the disk image, drag the app into Applications, then sign in with your Brault account. There is no Mac App Store listing and no separate setup step, and once you're signed in the app updates itself in the background.

Download and install the app

  1. Go to Brault Desktop for Mac and click Download for Mac. The download is a universal .dmg that runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
  2. Open the downloaded disk image and drag Brault Desktop for Mac into your Applications folder.
  3. Open the app from Applications. Brault Desktop for Mac is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a security warning.
  4. Sign in with your existing Brault account. The app works with every plan, including Free, so there's no separate desktop subscription to set up.

Brault Desktop for Mac needs macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Finder integration is built on Apple's File Provider system, which is why that version is the minimum, on an older Mac the app won't open.

What you'll see after signing in

Once you're signed in, every Brault workspace, folder, and file you have access to shows up in the Finder under Locations. Files start out cloud-only and download the moment you open them, so you see everything without storing all of it locally. A Brault icon appears in your menu bar with a compact panel for sync status, recent transfers, and quick actions.

How updates work

Brault Desktop for Mac updates itself automatically in the background, so you never need to redownload the disk image for a new version. Updates install silently by default; if a transfer or sync is actively running when one becomes available, the app waits and prompts you instead of interrupting it.
